RubeLab Green Fair & RubeRally 2010

RubeLab is a non-profit corporation headquartered in Eustis, Florida, which aids in the development of technologies to solve local and global environmental problems.  On Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21, 2010, they will hold their second annual festival, bringing together manufacturers and innovators of alternative means of transportation, with emphasis on electric and hybrid power, along with supporting green technology exhibits.  The Green Fair will be held at Ferran Park in downtown Eustis.  Hours are Saturday, March 20 from 11 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, March 21 from 11 am to 4 pm.

This year’s event introduces something new and fun!  The RubeRally is a “race”, open to any street legal vehicle that does not burn fossil fuel — e.g. electric, natural gas, solar, hydrogen, hybrid (must use electric only) and bicycles.  The route will cover approximately 15 miles in a triangular route (”The Golden Triangle”) from Eustis through Tavares and Mt. Dora, then back to Eustis.  These three Central Florida towns have made a commitment to going “green” and established a route for alternative energy vehicles, which includes recharging stations in each city center.

The rally winner will not be determined by speed; rather, it will involve activities along the way and questions to be answered, with clues along the route.  The entry with the most correct answers will win the rally!  The starting gun sounds on Saturday, March 20 at 2 pm for the start of the rally, and the finish will be followed by an award ceremony and dinner along the lake in Eustis.

GatorMoto Utility Vehicles will be entering two of its new Classic Roadsters (one 6-passenger and one 8-passenger) in the Rally, so come on out and cheer us on!  It’s sure to be a great event and a lot of fun for the whole family!

GatorMoto UV’s Electric Utility Vehicles

When someone mentions electric vehicles, most people think of the traditional golf cart-style vehicles we’ve all seen at local golf courses, or the newer NEV’s and LSV’s that are becoming more prevalent in small housing communities around the country.  But electric vehicles have evolved into something so much more!

GatorMoto Utility Vehicles offers strong, efficient, hard-working electric vehicles perfect for gardening, grounds keeping, maintenance, light duty hauling and a host of other applications.  Some even have dump beds!

Small to store, quiet and inexpensive to run, and environmentally friendly, these vehicles are perfect for use at apartment and condominium complexes, golf courses, resorts, parks, schools and universities – anywhere a small utility vehicle is needed.

Look for more specific information on these versitile vehicles under “Utility Vehicles” on this website.

Punxsutawney Phil Got It Wrong!

That’s right, the perennial weather forecaster from Gobblers’ Knob might have it right for the Northeast, but here in lovely Atlantic Beach, Florida, we have the pleasure of large flocks of robins passing through on their way north.  We’re still a little chilly, but we look to be driving our open-air electric cars into an early spring, if the birds know what they’re singing about.

We never let inclement weather stop us anyway!  We carry a full line of weather enclosures that will keep you totally dry as you tool around town.  For our NEV or Golf Cart Line, we sell a basic enclosure for $395.00.  Or we can have custom enclosures handmade for both the NEV and LSV or Bubble Buddies, which start at $895.00.  Enclosures can be clear or two-tone to match the colors of the cars.  Take a look at some of the enclosures we’ve done over the years in the accessory section on our website.

In defense of Punxsutawney Phil, the National Climatic Data Center states that Phil is correct 39% of the time, which is still a lot better than most meteorologists can say!
